I am a first-time buyer, and first-time owner of an academic gown, and since I am a college professor, I expected to wear the regalia often after my upcoming graduation, so I decided to buy a quality outfit. I shopped half-a-dozen American firms and two Canadian firms, and chose Gaspard, and I am glad I did.
THE PRODUCT
Mortarboard: Fits beautifully. I am at the larger end of the range for this cap, but it fits just right. The fabric stretches just slightly to account for hair and head size. Fabric matches the gown better than I thought it would. A quality item for a very reasonable price.
The Gown: Shoulder yolk is firm - it is reinforced, so it sits comfortably but elegantly. The gathers are well-executed, and the drape is even better than the photos. The Pilgrim fabric is surprisingly light, and at first I was concerned that it wouldn't hang well, but it does. The light weight of the fabric will be an asset when wearing a suit, seated with hundreds of others in a hot gymnasium full of people. The graduate style was beautifully executed.
The PRICE
Well-made and great value for the dollar.

Mary offered wise advice about product fabric, cut, style, and shipping. Every promise was kept, and the garment was shipped extremely quickly. I will buy an academic hood here next term (to replace the souvenir version my grad school issues), and I will buy with confidence.
